Here is a very unusual shark tooth from North Carolina. This is a beautiful Carcharocles chubutensis (Carcharocles subauriculatus) tooth from the Pungo River Formation. This distinct "Meg" tooth is quite wide, has a substantial root, and has both small cusps still intact. The large serrations are nicely intact and extremely sharp. The tooth has very interesting color - the grey-black enamel is quite cool. This is a very fine example of this highly uncommon "Meg" tooth.
