Name:
Carcharocles megalodon Tooth
Age: Miocene
Formation: Hawthorn Formation
Location: South Carolina
Size: Tooth is 2.7 inches long
Here is a very fine fossil shark tooth from South Carolina. This is a sharp Carcharocles megalodon from the Miocene Hawthorn Formation. This distinct tooth has very nice natural color and has the classic "arrowhead" shape well displayed. The shiny enamel is beautifully preserved on both sides of the robust tooth. The large serrations are extremely sharp, and the tip is also pointed and quite sharp in its own right. This is a very cool specimen of a fossilized shark tooth from the ancient version of ''Jaws''.
