Name:
Carcharodon carcharias (Fossil Great White Tooth)
Age: Miocene
Formation: Huarra Formation
Location: Atacama Desert, Chile
Size: Tooth is almost 3 inches long!
This is an outstanding fossilized Great White Shark tooth. It is a freakin' huge Carcharodon carcharias tooth from the Miocene of Chile. This species is the same type as today's modern Great White Shark. This specimen is simply huge - one of the largest of this type that we have ever seen. The tooth is wonderfully preserved and exhibits very fine detail. The root of the tooth is extremely solid and robust. The tiny tip of the tooth is intact, and the sharp serrations are wonderfully displayed. The shiny enamel has beautiful, natural orange coloration, and both sides of the tooth are very displayable. This is a fabulous example of a gigantic Great White Shark tooth fossil from South America.
