Here is an unusual fossil shark tooth. This is a Hemipristis serrata tooth from the Miocene of Maryland. This type of shark is called the "Snaggle-Toothed Shark". This large specimen has a very solid and substantial root, and the coarse serrations are easily seen. The tooth has excellent color, and both sides of the tooth display beautifully. The fossil is extremely sharp and quite deadly. This is a fine example of this uncommon shark tooth from Florida.
