Name:
Carcharodon carcharias Tooth
Age: Pliocene
Location: Peru
Size: Tooth is almost 2.4 inches long
This is a very large fossilized Great White Shark tooth. It is a distinct Carcharodon carcharias tooth from the Pliocene of PERU. This species is the same type as today's modern Great White Shark. This specimen is very well preserved and exhibits very fine detail. The root of the tooth is quite solid and robust. The tiny tip of the tooth is intact, and the large, sharp serrations are easily seen. The enamel has gorgeous, natural coloration, and the back side of the tooth displays as well as the front. This is an excellent example of a Peruvian Great White Shark tooth from a major fossil collection.
