Shark Tooth and Strange, Star-Shaped Bryozoan
Stock Number  STMIS303
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Shark Tooth, Evactinopora radiata
Age:  Mississippian
Formation:  Fern Glen Formation
Location:  Jefferson County, Missouri
Size:  Plate is 2.9 inches across

Here is an interesting plate of fossils from the Mississippian of Missouri. There is a rare shark tooth and a nice Evactinopora, a star-shaped bryozoan, on the slab. The fossils are quite 3-dimensional and exhibit fine detail. The points on the bryozoans are easily seen - it is seven-pointed. The fossils have good color and contrast and are nicely positioned on the plate of maroon-colored limestone. This is a fine example of a rare shark tooth and strange bryozoan from the Fern Glen Formation.
