Name:
Otodus obliquus Tooth in Matrix
Age: Eocene
Formation: Phosphate Beds
Location: Khouribga Basin, Morocco
Size: Tooth is 4.4 inches long!
Here is a HUGE fossil shark tooth. This is a gigantic Otodus obliquus tooth from the Eocene of Morocco. This tooth is extremely large - one of the largest Otodus teeth ever found! The root of the tooth is extremely robust and has great enamel preserved. The feeding part tooth is still embedded in the large block of matrix that also contains a smaller Odontaspis tooth. Again, this is one of the largest Extinct Mackerel shark teeth ever found, still fully encased in matrix.
