Location:  Atacama Desert, Chile
Size:  Tooth is 2.3 inches long

This is a nice fossilized Great White Shark tooth. It is a large Carcharodon carcharias tooth from the Miocene of Chile. This species is the same type as today's modern Great White Shark. This specimen is very well preserved and exhibits very fine detail. The root of the tooth is quite solid and robust. The tiny tip of the tooth is intact, and the many serrations are easily seen. The enamel has wonderful, natural coloration, and the back side of the tooth also displays well. This is an excellent example of a large Great White Shark tooth fossil from South America.
