Name:
Carcharodon carcharias (Fossil Great White Tooth)
Age: Miocene
Formation: Huarra Formation
Location: Atacama Desert, Chile
Size: Tooth is 2.75 inches long
This is an outstanding fossilized Great White Shark tooth. It is a very large Carcharodon carcharias tooth from the Miocene of Chile. This species is the same type as today's modern Great White Shark. This specimen is huge - almost 3 inches long. The tooth is wonderfully preserved and exhibits very fine detail. The root of the tooth is extremely solid and robust. The tiny tip of the tooth is intact, and the sharp serrations are wonderfully displayed. The shiny enamel has beautiful, natural orangish coloration, and both sides of the tooth are very displayable. This is a fabulous example of a giant Great White Shark tooth fossil from South America.
