Name:
Carcharocles megalodon Tooth
Age: Miocene
Formation: River Deposits
Location: South Carolina
Size: Tooth is 4.75 inches long
Here is a very fine fossil shark tooth from South Carolina. This is a large Carcharocles megalodon tooth from the Miocene River Deposits. This tooth is quite long and has the classic arrowhead shape. The root is very solid and substantial, and the sharp serrations are intact and beautifully displayed. The glossy enamel is well preserved, and the brownish tint is quite striking. The other side of the tooth is also wonderfully preserved, as seen in the photo. This is a fabulous example of a large tooth from this extinct Giant White Shark. (Note: white spots in the photo are reflections, not on the tooth.)
