Name:
Carcharocles angustidens Tooth
Age: Oligocene
Formation: Chandler Bridge
Location: Summerville, South Carolina
Size: Tooth is 2.2 inches long
This is an uncommon US shark tooth. It is a very fine Carcharocles angustidens - extinct precursor to the giant Carcharocles megalodon. This tooth is in great condition, with the enamel and two distinct cusps beautifully preserved. The large serrations are easily seen, and the root is robust and in great shape. The color of this tooth is quite beautiful. And the other side of the tooth displays well, also. This is a very nice example of this unusual fossil shark tooth.
