This is a very unusual fossil. It is a large shark egg capsule from the Pennsylvanian of Missouri. The egg capsules of Pennsylvanian sharks are quite uncommon in the fossil record. The fossil is preserved in a siderite concretion. The egg capsule has very good color and detail. This is a fine example of a very interesting fossil - no shark collection is complete without one of these enigmatic specimens.
