Name:
Carcharocles angustidens Tooth
Age: Oligocene
Formation: Chandler Bridge
Location: Summerville, South Carolina
Size: Tooth is 2.6 inches long
This is an uncommon US shark tooth. It is an excellent Carcharocles angustidens - extinct precursor to the giant Carcharocles megalodon. This tooth is in great condition, with the enamel beautifully preserved. The large serrations are awesome and are easily seen. The root is robust and is in great shape. The color of this tooth is simply beautiful. And the other side of the tooth displays well, also. This is a very nice example of this unusual fossil shark tooth.
