Name:
Carcharocles megalodon Tooth
Age: Miocene
Formation: River Deposits
Location: South Carolina
Size: Tooth is about 5 inches long
Here is an extremely fine fossil shark tooth from South Carolina. This is a large (about 5 inches long!) Carcharocles megalodon tooth from the Miocene River Deposits. This tooth is quite long and has the classic arrowhead shape. The root is very solid and substantial, and the serrations and tip are intact and extremely sharp. The glossy enamel is well preserved, and the bluish-grey tint is quite striking. Both sides of the tooth are so nice, either side could be the ''display side''. This is a fabulous example of a large tooth from this extinct giant white shark.
