Here is an unusual shark tooth fossil. It is a Carcharocles auriculatus tooth from the Eocene of South Carolina. This shark was the first in the line of sharks that evolved into Carcharocles megalodon. The sharp serrations of this tooth are very well preserved and beautifully displayed. The very tip of the tooth shows very little wear, and the cusps of the tooth are wonderfully present. The glossy enamel of the tooth is beautifully preserved and has gorgeous coloration. This is a very pretty specimen of this uncommon shark tooth from South Carolina.
