Carcharocles auriculatus With Beautiful Color
Stock Number  STSCX06

Name:   Carcharocles auriculatus
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Giant Portland Cement
Location:  Harleyville, South Carolina
Size:  Tooth is 2.2 inches long

Here is an unusual shark tooth. It is a Carcharocles auriculatus tooth from the Eocene of South Carolina. This shark was the first in the line of sharks that evolved into Carcharocles megalodon. Although there is a small ding on the root of the tooth, it is still a great specimen. The sharp serrations are almost perfectly intact and beautifully displayed. The very tip of the tooth shows a minute amount of natural wear, and the cusps of the tooth are wonderfully present. The glossy enamel of the tooth is well preserved and has gorgeous coloration. This is a very pretty specimen of this uncommon shark teeth from South Carolina.
